Kol Ami Temple Youth (KATY)

CKAF's youth group, known as KATY, is for our congregation's teens grades 8 - 12.  Join us!  Enrollment in CKAF's confirmation program is not required to participate in our youth group. Through KATY, our teens participate in social action and volunteer activities, as well as fun activities such as Movie Nights, latke-making for CKAF's annual Hanukkah party, bowling, and trips to Hershey Park. The teens often sell treats at Religious School to raise funds for their activities.  For more information, contact Rabbi Stratford at

Tikkun Olam

The Social Action Network engages our Congregation in a variety of community service activities.  Our signature project is Blessings in a Backpack, Frederick Schools.  As a congregation, we’re committed to supporting this weekend backpack program through food donations and sponsorships.  We’ve also shown great generosity in many way including collecting holiday gifts for the needy, donating PJs and books for the Pajama Project, joining with the ERUCC for our annual mission trip to North Carolina, knitting & collecting Warm Woolies for less fortunate Frederick Families and serving a meal & collecting food for the Frederick Soup Kitchen. We are also joining with the ERUCC and the UU to provide volunteers for the Religious Coalition’s Family Emergency Shelter project.

Join our New Member Mentor Program

Be part of our New Member Mentor Program. The program will welcome new members to our congregation, and help them meet people and get involved. We want to match new members with volunteer mentors. The matches would be made based on age/geography/interests.

Mentors are expected to contact the new members throughout their first year, to invite them to join them in our various activities, including services, girls/guys night outs, social events.

Mentors are encouraged to meet with the new member over a cup of coffee or glass of wine, to make them feel welcome, and to answer any questions they may have about CKAF, and find out what they would like to see happening at CKAF.

If you are interested in participating in this, and look forward to making new friends, please contact Anne Cohen, at, to get your name on our mentor list.
